This morning I saw bootprints in the snow, and I recognized the mark of the crossed nails that pap said could ward off the devil. I knowed pap was soon gonna come back when I realized the dead body they found in the river warn't pap. I wanted to know what pap wants so I went to see Jim because he has a magic hairball that could tell the future. When I went back to my room, I saw pap there. His face was mighty white, I knowed that he had been drinking whiskey again. He tol' me that I shouldn't go to school no more, and he took the one dollar that I got from Judge Thatcher. I reckon he's gonna buy some more whiskey with it. I just hope he won't come back often.
I was going home from school when suddenly pap apperared in front of me. He took me to an old cabin in the woods. He kept me locked up in there so I couldn't run away. I actually kinda like living with pap because I don't have to pray before meals, or act sivilized.Today when pap was gone, I found an old saw and I tried to make a hole in the cabin wall. I was almost done when I heard the lock click. I immediately covered the hole with a blanked and hid the saw under the matress. I was lucky pap didn't see me while I was cutting a hole in the wall or he would surely beat me up!

Did you give your personal best?
In this course, I think I gave my personal best most of the time. But sometimes I rush through some of the assignments because sometimes I procrastinate.

Does our current society encourage or discourage loneliness or isolation?
I think our current society discourage isolation. For example, at school, we often do group works. But at the same time, we are also encouraged to be independent.

What areas could I improve on?
Some areas that I could improve on is my action verbs. I could choose some better action verbs to improve the paragraph. Also, I could pick better transition words to help the paragraph flow more nicely.

    Likes/Dislikes:
What I like about his book is it's interesting plot. I also like the author's use of the dialect of migrant workers, which makes the book alive. I really enjoyed reading this book, although, I wish the ending was more detailed.

    Elie Wiesel
    Summary:
Elie and his family, along with other Jews, are taken to a Nazi concentration camp during WW II. During the first camp in Birkenau, Elie is separated from his mother and sisters, and he is left with only his father. Elie and his father are next taken to Auschwitz which at first seems to be better than the first camp. There, Elie receives a number that replaces his name: A-7713. Elie and his father remain there for three weeks before they are transported to the next camp, Buna. In Buna, Elie loses his gold crown in exchange for nothing and gets whipped by a German kapo. He also witnesses hangings and has operation on his foot. One day, when the news that the Russian army is drawing closer, the Germans evacuate the Jews to another camp. They marched for 42 miles until they arrive in Gleiwitz where Elie, his father, and the other Jews remain for three days. Next, they go on a train ride to Buchenwald. With 100 people on each train, they drive for ten days, without food or water. In Buchenwald, Elie's father becomes weaker and weaker until he finally dies.
